Case Summary: A woman with severe arthritis had been depressed and suicidal for nine months. She wanted to have a baby but all of her doctors advised against it because of her severe arthritis. MHE told her to get pregnant as soon as she could. When she did her arthritis improved and her depression lifted. She named the baby Cynthia and was very happy. Unfortunately the child died of crib death at six months. The woman's depression was worse than ever and she wanted to commit suicide. MHE told her that it was criminal of her to destroy the memories of her pregnancy and her child by killing herself. He told her to plant a eucalyptus tree in her backyard and to name it Cynthia. She was to watch Cynthia grow and to look forward to sitting in Cynthia's shade. A year later MHE visited her and found a tall sapling and a considerable flower garden growing in her backyard.
